Development & Operations Associate
Position Overview
Young New Yorkers’ Chorus (YNYC) is seeking a part-time Development & Operations Associate to play a central role in managing and strengthening our fundraising and organizational systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, communications, and processes and is eager to take ownership of work that directly supports organizational growth.
This is a new role at YNYC with a broad scope that shifts throughout the year, with clear priorities and support from leadership. We are looking for someone who is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking initiative in a dynamic, evolving role. Reporting to the General & Artistic Director, the Associate will gain hands-on experience across donor strategy, campaign execution, and systems management, with opportunities to build and improve processes that have a meaningful impact on YNYC’s work.
This role is a part-time position paid as an independent contractor that is fully remote-eligible for the right candidate. The application deadline is Friday, May 22nd, 2026. We anticipate the starting date for this position to be Wednesday, July 1st, 2026.
Development Responsibilities (70%)
Database Management & Gift Processing
Maintain accurate donor records, including gifts, pledges, and interactions.
Ensure timely acknowledgments, tax receipts, and donor recognition.
Support overall data integrity, including deduplication and consistent coding.
Track pledge fulfillment and support CRM use across the organization, including board training.
Generate routine reports to support fundraising tracking and decision-making
Donor Stewardship & Prospecting
Draft personalized donor communications and acknowledgments.
Support donor stewardship, including recognition and benefits fulfillment.
Prepare materials and tracking for board outreach and engagement.
Conduct basic prospect research and track how new donors engage with YNYC.
Fundraising Campaign & Event Support
Support execution of fundraising campaigns, including email drafting and segmentation.
Create and manage donation forms and track campaign and event performance.
Manage RSVP tracking and support conversion of attendees into donors.
Assist with reporting and post-campaign or event follow-up.
Execute timely post-campaign and event acknowledgments.
Operations Responsibilities (30%)
Maintain core organizational systems, including website updates, rosters, email lists, and shared drives.
Manage accounts, permissions, subscriptions, and internal documentation of processes.
Support financial and administrative workflows, including invoices, receipts, and recordkeeping.
Coordinate logistics for rehearsals, performances, and guest artists.
Support venue coordination and serve as a point of contact as needed.
Assist with production logistics, including vendors, auditions, and concert support.
Support key organizational initiatives, including the Competition for Young Composers and seasonal programming.
Qualifications
3+ years of nonprofit development experience; operations experience a plus
Experience working with CRMs (Neon One preferred)
Strong written communication skills, especially for donor-facing content
Experience supporting donor stewardship or fundraising campaigns
Demonstrated ability to manage or improve systems and processes
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Comfort working in a remote environment with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; advanced Excel skills a plus
Comfort using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to support operational workflows
Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
Interest in and respect for the performing arts and nonprofit sector
Compensation & Details
Compensation: $30–40/hr (negotiable), paid monthly in arrears and as an independent contractor
Hours: ~10–15 hrs/week; primarily during EST working hours. Hours for this position may increase in the periods before the start of each season, before/after our concerts, and during fundraising campaigns.
Location: Fully remote-eligible; NYC-based preferred
Start Date: July 1, 2026
