Monks and Mystics

We'd like to put you in a trance! YNYC presents spiritual and mystic works from
a variety of cultures. We'll be performing music by frequent YNYC composers
Chris Mueller and Michael Lamb, as well as music and texts from Aaron Jay
Kernis, Meredith Monk, Sarah Hopkins, Frank Ferko, and Hildegard von Bingen.
MONKS AND MYSTICS will also feature the finalists in our fourth annual
Competition for Young Composers. Come hear world premieres from Zachary
Wadsworth, Rob Teehan, and Matthew Brown. The composers will be in
attendance, and you can meet them at a reception afterwards.

Featuring the thrillingly acrobatic Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine by Eric Whitacre, and including works by Frank Ticheli, Kirke Mechem, and Bono, YNYC will offer world premiers of works by Jonathan Colm, Daniel Nass, and Joshua Shank. I wine reception following the concert affords the audience the opportunity to meet the composers and mingle with the singers.
